Reach Out and Touch Someone It's 3:00 in the afternoon and This program is another service of Compeer, which matches volunteers with a person diagnosed with a mental or emotional illness for support and friendship. Compeer Calling, which involves a weekly fifteen minute phone call, provides interim support for the client until a one-to-one match is made. These calls help to "bridge the gap " between the time a person is referred and the time they are matched. The program can help reduce social isolation and loneliness. It also gives clients a chance to improve interpersonal skills and prepare for their Compeer match. To assure program effectiveness, volunteers attend a free Compeer Calling training session and receive additional educational sessions about mental health and mental illnesses throughout the year. This program is a great opportunity for people with time and activity constraints who would like to volunteer . Click here to apply online now.
